November 1, 1912 - May 6, 2008

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who attened Franz's memorial service on Saturday, May 24th. A VERY SPECIAL AND HEARTFELT THANK YOU to all of the musicians who made the trip from distances as far as Detroit and Wisconsin to be here to "play Franz out". What we saw and heard on Saturday was a testament to Franz's undeniable legacy of love, music and respect. THANK YOU as well to the staff of McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home for all of their assistance to Franz's family and to the staff of the Woodfire Trattoria for being a part of Franz's life and hosting the fantastic reception following the service.

He might not be here with us any longer, but Franz's spirit will definitely live on and the tributes and celebrations of his life haven't been completed just yet:

Franz will also be honored at the start of the Chicago Jazz Festival this August with a tribute by some of Chicago's best jazz musicians. And we are working toward planning another tribute to Franz in the Chicago area in the very near future.
